Click Here ¡ LABOR RELATIONS Members may designate and assign to the association the right to act as its exclusive representative for the purpose of negotiating, executing and administering collective bargaining agreements. The Fox Valley General Contractors Association is a member of the Mid-America Regional Bargaining Association (MARBA), a management organization established to engage in collective bargaining.
¡ GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS The Fox Valley Associated General Contractors is increasingly active in legislative and other government affairs activities. On the state level, the association is an active participant in the Illinois Construction Industry Committee (ICIC), an organization of more than 12 construction associations with the goal of a unified voice on construction issues to the legislature and administration. A state political action committee, FOXBUILDPAC, is in place to further strengthen the association’s government affairs activities. On the national level, the Fox Valley Associated General Contractors is an active participant with the AGC of America in its highly regarded government affairs program in Washington DC. The AGC of America monitors and advocates on behalf of the construction industry with full time staff on Capitol Hill.
¡ MEMBERSHIP INVOLVEMENT In addition to labor negotiations and government affairs, the Fox Valley Associated General Contractors has a variety of committees open to all members. An Education Committee, Safety Committee, Office Management/Human Resources Committee and a Social Committee also guide the activities of the organization. A number of social events throughout the year – golf outings, an annual sports banquet, baseball games, dinners, receptions and joint meetings with other associations – provide networking and entertainment opportunities.
¡ COMMUNCIATIONS The Fox Valley Associated General Contractors keeps its members informed through a variety of methods. A monthly publication, The Fox Valley Contractor Quarterly is a summary of local, regional and national industry information. A weekly e-mail association update, ON-LINE CONSTRUCTION NEWS, is also sent to any AGC member. A variety of AGC of America and Fox Valley AGC publications are also mailed and faxed to members. An Annual Membership Directory and Resource Guide is also produced. Advertising is accepted in all association publications.
The Fox Valley Associated General Contractors can also assist in industry-related questions, referrals for professional services and in general business matters.
